How can I have 2 operating systems on the same computer?

I would like to be able to run 2 operating systems on a single computer. Is that possible? How do I do it?

  1. its easy! install one, then put in the install disk for the second it will ask you whether you want to create a separate partition, say yes also make sure you check the right options to have it NOT erase your other OS i did this w/ fedora and XP, its not that hard
  2. just install two operating system in two different partition of a hard disk .In this case u should sign in differently in each partition with it operating system. thanks...
  3. You would have to partition your hard-drive. Apple offers this in a Mac, and they call the Microsoft partition "Boot camp".
  4. During hte first install, create 3 partitions..... 1st for OS 1 2nd for OS 2 3rd for all your data..... Trust me if it is linux and windows install linux first then windows if it is windows and windows, install the old one first then the new...
  5. Depends on what two u want. Some will not go together. But for those that would wipe your drive clean then make two partitions and set each one up on your partitions.
  6. because if you have updated to vista from xp on the same computer it will still have the old version left in if you have problems with it or you may want to run xp for some programs because the program doesn't work on vista
  7. Hi, You can install 2 OSs in one computer, There are mainly two options( mostly used). Two windows OSs (like windows 2000 and XP)(same windows family) Another one is Linux(Redhat,Fedora,Suse etc..) and Windows (xp,2000,etc) First partition your entire disk in to three or four,(min:2) (3 or 4 recommended) then install the lower version of windows (if two windows OSs ) first and higher version of windows next. ex: Windows 2000 first and later windows xp. you will be prompted which OS should be booted up, select as per ur requirement. If you wanna install linux and windows xp then first install windows xp and later linux, if u install windows after linux, then ur linux os will not be accessible. you will get boot options at the time of booting. its a simple process. but beware that linux should be installed later. (linux and windos) and higher version must be installed later(if two are from windows family. all the best happy installation
  8. What happens if I have already installed Windows XP and want to install WIndows 2000? Is that possible?
