Illegal Databases?
Is there any such thing as a "illegal database"? Is it possible to create a database system - and for it to be deemed not legal? Someone once used this phrase to describe one of my databases I designed and hope to sell (with no information in it obviously) - for a organisation a while back - and it worried me a bit - so I need to know is there a definative list of "illegal databases". Cheers.. Thanks for the response.. He wasn't saying it about the structure or code. (which is excellent btw). He meant the database itself was illegal.. Thanks Slipperm... The guy did seem a bit of a twerp tbh.

- I would say "no". In programming terms, illegal usually means something you shouldnt do, or some code that's is likely to crash under certain circumstances. Say it was possible that a macro runs on all entries in a field even when some are blank and can cause a divide by zero error. He was probably saying something about the way you structured your database or even a macro function, may have been incorrect in his mind.
- As long as you created the database yourself and did not use anyone elses code, I cannot see how the database could be illegal. You own the intelectual rights to the document/program. I don't think the guy knew what he was talking about. Although any databases holding data about individuals in the UK come under the Data Protection Act 1998.
