How long does it take apartment management to process the pre-application for a lease?
Such as the background check, credit history, employment verification, etc. before the actual signing of the lease can occur. I'm wondering how long I should wait before following up.

- If I accept the applicant I run the check right away and it takes a couple days for the agency to get back to me.
- Depending on the number of applicants and the complexity of the check, it can take upwards of a week or more. Your check probably could be done in a few days, but if there are multiple checks to be run by the landlord, you might not hear back for more than a week. You should probably call after about 5-7 business days and check on the status. That will show that you really want the place and if it comes down to 2 people, you might get chosen over another.
