How do you switch operating systems?
How do you switch operating systems from windows xp to linux. I don't know how to wipe of the hard drive. Please help

- well if you want to just install a second operating system and keep your original windows system then you can get this software where you can install two operating systems onto one drive and you can choose which operating sytem you want to boot into upon booting up... If you want to just wipe out Windows and say the hell with it then you need to grab yourself a copy of a Linux Disc and place it into your drive and reboot. Normally anytime you place an operating system disc into the drive and reboot the computer will boot the disc and walk you through it...however not all computers are setup to read the disc first before the hard drive so you will have to go into the BIOS during bootup. (Watch for a prompt when booting) and go to the bootup sequence and set it up to boot from the optical drive first and then the hard drive second.....
- you have to format the hard drive , but you can't format the drive you are using, you need to create a new partition , then delete all files if you are using windows then delete all windows files and then load in your new system into the partition that you just created run your new system and then format the rest of the hard drive,and then remove the partitions ...good luck.... arf..UK
