How can I set up multi boot operating systems on multiple hard drives? I would like my computer to boot up with a list, so I can select which operating to boot up, however I have separate operating systems installed on separate hard drives. I can get multi boot to work on a single partitioned hard drive, but how would i do it for 2 hard drives? On one of my hard drives I have Windows Vista Home Premium, and the other I have Windows XP.
How do i have and use two operating systems on my pc? I have a 40GB hard disk with windows xp on a 20GB partition and linux 9 on the other 20GB partition. I formated the harddisk with windows xp which i installed. I then installed Linux 9. I however cannot access the windows partition. When the sysem boots it goes straight into Linux without giving me the option of going into windows. When i invoke the 'fdisk' command however i can see both the partitions. I would like to access and work with both operating systems. What do i do?
Do modern electronic systems also have operating systems? I am curious. Today, we have DVD players, digital cameras, CD players, LCD TVs and mobile phones. They are all related to the computer. Do all these devices have operating systems in them? If so, what are the operating systems? Windows, Linux? Do they also have CPUs? If so, what are they? AMD, Intel? How do their Operating Systems differ from the operating system of the PC?
what software will allow me to use multiple operating systems on my computer? hi i'm looking for software that will allow me to run multiple operating systems on my computer. i've tried VMware but it's not what i'm looking for.i'm looking for something that gives me choices of all the operating systems on the boot screen, and then i get to choose which one i want and then i go. but then there is an issue with partitions. cause WIndows XP uses NTFS and the other linux OS may use Fat32. i don't know. so i guess this software would also have to partition my hard drive so i could allocate memory for only specific OS. can anyone give me more info on this kind of thing? would love any advice or info. it may be more simple than what i'm making it. what kind of partition should i make for linux OS like Ubuntu or fedora?

What are 3 operating systems for personal computers? I need to write a brief report on three different personal computer operating systems. Since this is for Windows XP class, I think Windows should not be included. Anyone who answers (with a genuine answer) will recieve a thumbs up for their trouble. Thanks :)
Does anyone know where I can find examples on page replacement algorithms for operating systems? I am working on a lab assignment for virtual memory and need to implement various page replacement algorithms (FIFO, LRU, Random). I am not looking to cheat or copy code from sources online, but really just need to get an understanding of how this can be done in a UNIX system with C++. The professor hasn't been much help as the description of the assignment is only half of a page and useless. Basically, I just need to understand what processes should be called in the code to get a start on this thing. So really any information about virtual memory managment coding for operating systems will be a help. I am having difficulty finding any assistance on Google. Thanks!

Best way to benchmark different Linux operating systems? I'm thinking of determining benchmarks for operating systems running LAMP-framework applications. Ideally, I would like to generate some meaningful results - if you know of existing benchmark tests (or how to get useful info from the Apache Benchmark tool) now is the time :D
What is the way to use Windows operating systems? hi peeps, i am all set and go to launch a new computer repair and upgrade business, however, my ideas are being hindered by the fact that i do not know how i will profit if i have to buy a new Windows 95/98/2000/NT/XP retail package every time i repair or upgrade a computer/laptop harddrive.. ..at the moment, i have two pretty old toshiba laptops which i am upgrading the hard drives up from 6.4gb to 10gb each. they both have windows 98 COAs (certificate of authenticity) on the bottom.. ...after installing the hard drive, formatting it and partitioning it, it is time to install the new Windows 98 operating system, i have bought the original Windows 98 retail pack and now do not know what to do.. can i install the OS on BOTH laptops? can i use the product key on the bottom of the laptops (both different) when installing the OS? how many times, on different computers cani install the OS that i have just bought? i will be refurbishing laptops to sell, how do i stay legal? help!
What is the proper way of removing additional operating systems? Before installing Windows Vista in my partitioned hard disk, I would like to enquire whether I could remove Windows Vista (together with the partition) without affecting my Windows XP (as the default operating system)? When I want to remove Windows Vista in a separate partition, do I just remove that partition straight away? Would that really affect my computer's boot process? Well, I know that Windows would automatically include Windows Vista as an additional operating system in the Windows Boot Manager during system startup after I've installed Windows Vista (using the "custom installation" method instead of the upgrading) from my existing XP. But what do I have to do when I want to remove WinVista with that partition without causing any problem to my XP? Let's say that I have only XP at first, later I partitioned my hard disk and installed Vista. Then, how do I remove Windows Vista together with that partition without causing problems when booting into my XP? Help me, please...
In operating systems, what is the difference between execution time and period? Much of the literature in real-time operating systems has equations with execution time and period as variables (see for example p6 of http://www.cs.colorado.edu/~nutt/CS5473/Papers/stankovic94implications.pdf). What is the difference between the two? The general impression I get is that execution time is the amount of time the actual execution takes, while the period is the rate at which the task executes, but how can you even talk about a period for a task that e.g. executes just once? Am I misunderstanding this? The formatting of the web address got messed up, here it is again: http://www.cs.colorado.edu/~nutt/CS5473/Papers/stankovic94implications.pdf
How can I operate multple operating systems on one computer? I've got an HP laptop computer with XP media operating system. I have a separate partition outside of this OS setup of about 10,000 mb. I want to install windows '95 on this separate partition. Is this possible and if yes how can I decide which OS is loaded at power on? I do not want to boot them both at once, I want to use one or the other at a time. And I have reasons for '95 that I will not elaborate on.
Where can I find a free download of mac osx operating systems? I got an apple laptop at a yard sale last weekend. It has to have a password to get into the system, we don't have it. I would just like to reload it with a free copy of mac osx to see if it even works. If it works ok I will purchase the operating system for it. But I don't want to spend the money on a new operating system if it doesn't work. I'm a single mom and don't have the money to get one if it doesn't even work. Thank you.
